Picton House is lucky to be surrounded by beautiful landscapes, stunning beaches and popular attractions. 

Breathtaking coastlines, rolling hills, sandy beaches, rich medieval history, vibrant wildlife, captivating zoos, and even a journey back in time to the age of dinosaurs are all just a few minutes away.

Here’s just a little inspiration for places you can enjoy during your stay.

Whatever your interested in, from Coasteering to Castles, there’s plenty to do and explore in the nearby countryside.

If you’re the active type, there’s plenty of paddle-boarding, kayaking, surfing and coasteering to do at the nearby beaches. The forestry around Picton House is amazing for mountain biking too, with many fantastic local trails.

For younger visitors, there are a choice of local theme parks and zoos, including Folly Farm, Oakwood and Manor Park Zoo – as well as the Dinosaur Park in Tenby!

From the stunning glasshouse at the National Botanical Gardens, to stately homes, there’s plenty of culture to explore too. And with more castles per square mile than anywhere else in the world, there is lots of incredible history to dive into.

Pretty towns, stunning countryside

With the seaside towns of Laugharne, Tenby and Saundersfoot just a short drive away, there’s plenty of choices of place to go for a bit of a mooch!

Visit Dylan Thomas’ boat house in historic Laugharne as well as the historic Castle. Tenby offers beautiful beaches, a spot shopping in the boutiques, and a selection of great bars and cafes. Or you can explore the harbour town of Saundersfoot, grab an ice cream and wander the beach up to Monkstone point.

We’re spoilt by the fantastic countryside of Wales, from the beautiful mountains of the Preselli’s and Brecon Beacons, to our rolling coastline, there are thousands of miles of wonderful walks where you can enjoy the surrounding nature, and take in the views.

Amazing beaches

West Wales is blessed with a huge number of spectacular beaches to enjoy.

From the expansive sands of Pendine and Cefn Sidan, to beautiful bays like Saundersfoot and the award-winning Barafundle, there are plenty to explore.

If you’re more adventurous, further west you’ll find Newgale and Freshwater West – famous for their fantastic surf. Or why not try your hand at come coastal foraging and discover what can be found amongst our stunning coastline.
